Beer drinkers listen up. A Japanese brewer has come up with a novel way to keep cool this summer by designing a machine which adds a frozen froth to your beer.
 
When the notoriously hot and sticky Japanese summer kicks in, many in the country reach for a cold beer and the air conditioner’s on switch. However, with all 54 of the country’s nuclear plants currently offline following last year’s disaster at the Fukushima facility, parts of the nation are facing the prospect of intermittent power outages in the coming months — which could well lead to summer days steamier than a Swedish sauna.

LycoRed Opens New Plant in China

LycoRed Expands Production for Food Fortification Market

LycoRed Ltd., Israel, announces the opening of a new plant in Changzhou, China. The plant will be available for commercial production by the end of this year. The facility will produce a wide range of premixes for the food and beverage industry for nutritional fortification covering the Asian market.

Research conducted by LycoRed shows a growing demand for nutritional premixes in Asia Pacific, in addition to accelerated demand for Lyc-O-Mato® in Japan, China and Thailand. These finding encouraged LycoRed management to build the new facility in China and to allow the company to establish and develop closer partnerships with key suppliers and provide comprehensive healthy ingredient and premix solutions.

LycoRed currently is completing equipment validation and securing the necessary quality certifications for production, including FSSC and MUI Halal. “Attaining FSSC 22000 Certification along with LycoRed’s high-value products highlights our ongoing commitment to providing customers with the safety, control and management of manufacturing quality products in accordance with industry expectations worldwide,” explains Zelkha. ”"It also increases opportunities for sustainable trade. Solbar Introduces new advanced products for meat applications

 

Solbar, a global producer of specialty soy proteins, launches two new advanced products to expand its line for meat and poultry applications. The introduction will be held at FIE in Paris, booth # 2B47.

 

 “This emphasizes the importance of the meat-processing industry to Solbar”* states Hadas Richter, Solbar R&D Manager. “The meat-processing industry is a traditional soy protein consumer and has always occupied an important position to Solbar’s global operations,” continues Richter. “We’ve made it a point to provide innovative solutions to help make meat processors’ offerings healthier and cost-effective.”

 

Solbar Q 932 is an isolated soy protein carefully designed by the Solbar R&D team to support protein-enhancement systems applied in whole-muscle meat products.

 

Leading features, such as low viscosity, high dispersibility, bland flavor and pale color were combined to provide succulence and cost effectiveness to hams, turkey or chicken breast and other muscle-based products. The 90% amino acid balanced protein content complements the nutritional values of the meat. Solbar Q 932 is recommended as a key ingredient in brines, together with flavors and functional components.

 

Solcon S-210 is a new functional soy-protein concentrate for emulsified and comminuted cured meats, poultry and fish targeted for premium products. It was developed and manufactured at the Solbar production site in Ningbo China after an extended period of examination and evaluation of multiple technological approaches.

 

Solcon S-210 is a result of advanced, unique technology. It exceeded expectations in water- and fat-holding capacity when tested against its peers and contributes excellent emulsification and gelling properties to comminuted meat products as well as to meat analogues. Solcon S-210 will be commercially available by the end of 2011.

 

“Solcon S-210 is applicable for a wide range of products requiring high protein and strong gelling properties to stabilize meat systems,” says Richter. “It combines the benefits of low viscosity with strong gelling ability to provide firm bite, and contributes to a fibrous and meat-like texture in a wide variety of products.” Solcon S-210 can be easily introduced into most formulations for highly nutritious protein addition. AstaPure™ - Natural Astaxanthin in a new liquid formulation

 

Algatechnologies, Israel, a leading manufacturer of natural astaxanthin, has collaborated with Novel Creation, Israel, to develop "Maximum Red Alga", a unique liquid dietary supplement of natural astaxanthin using AstaPure™ 10% astaxanthin oleoresin as its main active ingredient.  "Maximum Red Alga" liquid supplement is produced and marketed by Novel Creation and is available in all pharmacies, drugstore chains and health food stores in Israel and will be launched in the US and Europe in 2012.

 

This innovative product was developed utilizing an advanced technology that enables oil-soluble ingredients, such as natural astaxanthin, to be easily incorporated into water-based formulations whilst keeping their natural properties and delivering their health benefits more effectively.

A recent exploratory clinical study by Algatechnologies and Novel Creation at Soroka Medical Center, Beersheba, Israel, tested the absorption rate of natural astaxanthin in different forms.  AstaPure™ in Novel Care solution, and AstaPure™ 10% astaxanthin oleoresin. A single dose of product, corresponding to 100mg AstaPure™ 10% natural astaxanthin, was given to healthy volunteers. Serum concentrations of astaxanthin were measured every two hours over a period of ten hours. Results as manifested by average serum concentrations of 0.3 micromolar, 6-8 hours post ingestion were indicative of good absorption in the digestive tract of astaxanthin in the forms of both AstaPure™ oleoresin and Maximum Red Alga products (water-based ) formulations.

 Astaxanthin is a natural red pigment and the most important natural carotenoid found in nature. It is an extremely potent antioxidant and is recognized to be as many as 500 times more effective than vitamin E, and more powerful than beta carotene. Astaxanthin was found to be beneficial in several areas, including preventing disorders related to sports activities, maintaining cardiovascular and skin health.   

Algatechnologies holds a global patent for its closed, environmentally protected, cultivation system which allows for the production of a pure product with a high concentration of astaxanthin. Vitiva Takes on Stevia Market

Vitiva, Slovenia, launches its stevia line, under Sweet’nVit  brand, providing maximum sweetness with minimum bitterness,  following EC recent approval for use in food and beverage applications in Europe.
